In dentistry, every treatment case is unique, and some stand out for their complexity and positive impact on patients' lives. This article presents a remarkable successful case of a 7-month dental rehabilitation. Through a comprehensive approach, multiple implant placement was performed and advanced procedures were carried out to ensure a complete and satisfactory oral rehabilitation. Despite the challenges associated with the patient’s health, an exceptional result was achieved, transforming not only his smile, but also his quality of life. Throughout this article, we will explore the details of this successful treatment.
We received a 67-year-old male patient who came for the first time for a dental diagnosis. After conducting a thorough evaluation, they found several characteristics that needed attention.
The patient has diabetes, but it is under control, which is a positive aspect when considering the treatments that would be required.
During the examination, it was observed that the patient had removable partial prostheses in both the upper and lower arches. At the top, the prosthesis was held by four teeth, while in the lower, there were only two teeth that supported the structure. The upper arch had four teeth that, after diagnosis, were referred for extraction to place dental implants. To optimize the process, it was decided to place six implants in this arch using a surgical guide. This approach allows for greater precision in the rehabilitation, which is crucial for the long-term success of the implants.
The oral rehabilitation procedure for this patient began with the placement of 12 implants in the specific positions of teeth #3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 30, 28, 26, 23, 21 and 19, using a surgical guide, essential to ensure precise implant placement and facilitate posterior rehabilitation. During the procedure, bone grafts were performed, bone bond was used in the areas where extractions were carried out. To ensure that the patient was not edentulous, he was provided with immediate total provisional prostheses. Even though the patient has type 2 diabetes mellitus the treatment wasn’t complicated, and the implants were ready in just 2 months and 10 days. As soon as the complete osseointegration was achieved, a scan was performed and sent to the laboratory for the manufacture of the zirconia bridges, finalizing the treatment with a complete rehabilitation that included three bridges in the upper arch and three in the lower arch.
